SRT vs. VTT: What’s the Difference?
- SRT (SubRip Subtitle): A widely supported subtitle format that works with most video players and editing tools.
- VTT (WebVTT): Designed for web applications, allowing for additional styling and positioning options.
How to Download Caption Files
Allow audio to fully render before downloading captions to ensure accurate timing.
From inside a Project:
- Select the clip (multiple clips) you want to download captions for.
- Click the Download button from the clip or the toolbar above to download the caption(s).
- Toggle Captions ON to enable download options. Then, select SRT, VTT, or both.
- Your File Will Download Automatically
Your caption file will be included in the download along with your audio.
From the Projects Page:
- Click the ellipses icon (...) on the project you want to download.
- Select Download.
- Toggle Captions ON, then select the caption format.
- Your caption file will download to your device along with the audio.

Q: What versions of Studio support captions?
A: Captions are available in Standard and Beta versions of Studio.
Q: Are captions available in Global languages?
A: Captions are available for our Spanish, German, and French voices currently - more Global languages coming soon!
Q: Can I disable captions per project if they’re enabled in global settings?
A: Since global settings apply to all clips and projects across workspaces, you must disable global settings to disable caption download on individual projects.
Q: Can I set caption download as a global setting for my entire team?
A: No. Each team member will need to adjust their own settings.
Q: I'm interested in closed captioning, but I have a Creative subscription. How can I access it?
